So I'm finally getting into Leverage...

I love Leverage! Why hasn't anyone told me how awesome this show is??? Okay, Katysam has been for quite a while! I will be checking out her Leverage posts again...

We haven't been lucky enough to see it here in Canada, so the opportunity to watch it never came up. So I decided to check it out. Wow! I loooove this show. I'm just getting into the second season and it's amazing. It's funny and smartass and the cast has so much chemistry.  I don't even think of Aldis Hodge as Sam's killer anymore!

More Leverage love here... )

A meme from Morganslady

Got this from [info]morganslady . Very interesting to do since my birthday is November 22 and only one event is usually associated with it. I left it out of this meme! (In case you don't know it's John F. Kennedy's assassination).

I tried to keep it as Canadian as I could.

Go to Wikipedia and type in your birthdate - the month and day. Pick 3 events, births, deaths and holidays.

1837 –Canadian journalist and politician William Lyon Mackenzie called for a rebellion against Great Britain in his essay "To the People of Upper Canada", published in his newspaper The Constitution.
1954 – The Humane Society of the United States is founded.

Holidays

R.C. Saints – Feast of Saint Cecilia

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and The Losers – preview of the trailer!

There was a quick tease of The Losers trailer on Entertainment Tonight and I posted it at my blog.

That means the trailer will probably be released tomorrow. ET will have an exclusive feature tomorrow, which should include the trailer and maybe an interview with the cast??

So spend your Friday with Mary Hart and see some new Jeffrey Dean Morgan!

Getting ready for Christmas the DIY way.

I hope all the Americans here had a great holiday and didn't eat or spend too much!

Thanksgiving in Canada is not quite the same holiday as in the US. It falls on a Monday so everyone I know celebrates on the Sunday and most people don't travel home. The restaurants are pretty full!

Our New York office was closed so since I work with them quite closely I took the day off to do some baking! I made fruitcakes. I am one of those people who absolutely loves good fruitcake. I think it may be too late though. I did the whole cheesecloth and brandy thing and did a couple with grand marnier for the citrusy taste, but it may not be ready in time for Christmas. Almost four weeks may be enough though. And I made cranberry jelly. It looks like it set alright so I will give this out as gifts. And maybe keep a few!

Then I went to a craft show called the One of a Kind Craft Show. This thing is huge and people come from all over to attend. There's always lots of food gifts. And I was looking at the fruitcake and all the jellies and jams and after making things like this myself am shocked at the prices charged for these. $10 for a 2 ounce jar of jam! $20 for a small piece of fruitcake. Not only am I having fun being DIY but am saving lots of money. And it's good for ideas. There was a cranberry/jalapeno jelly that was amazing, so I am going to experiment with replicating that in the next few days.

Still, I would have made a lousy pilgrim. I'd be among those who died of some horrible disease on the ship over!

And the weather? What the heck is up with that? It's still lovely out here!

Thanks for the birthday wishes and Miss D's holiday portrait

Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes:-) I was quite happy to see them. I did have a lovely day. The weather was lovely, and Miss D. spent lots of time outside. I haven't been around LJ much. Things have been so busy at work, but things seem to be calming down a bit.

And with what I hope I will become a yearly tradition, here is Miss D's Christmas portrait! This was taken at Timmie Dog Outfitters, as part of an event called Holiday Wonderlust. All the shops on the main shopping district of my neighbourhood have special deals, serve snacks and drinks while people shop!

This is not the official picture. I took this one while the photographer was taking some. So a dog charity got some money, I got a happy holiday memory and Miss D. got manhandled by Santa Claus!

She does seem a bit afraid of him and he's trying to hold her still, but I think she's just confused. "Santa" is her groomer, so I think she was wondering about the beard since he looks nothing like this!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and the rest of the cast of The Losers

Here's the first official picture from The Losers. Doesn't Jeffrey Dean Morgan look like he's coming home from a Twilight New Moon after party??

As usual, my blog is over here:

So what's been going on since I've been away??

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted here. The last several weeks have been absolutely busy and crazy.

In the not so good news, my office has been suffering quite a bit because of the H1N1 virus. About 25% are out at any time either sick or taking care of sick family. So I'm trying to get a lot of work done in case I get sick. So far I'm good. No one I work closely with has fallen ill so I guess I've been lucky.

I hope everyone is staying healthy and isn't too affected by the virus.

In better news, I finished a half marathon! The second half, since it's closer to the finish line! Get used to that joke. I plan on using it a lot!

It was such an amazing experience. If you told me a year ago I'd be doing this I'd still be laughing. I was amazed at the people who came out to cheer competitors on. There was a group of veterans who were easily in their late 80s and early 90s. And they were there in full uniform cheering us on. And one guy had a sign that said "you're all nutz!"

I have since signed up for 6 more races so far for next year and even entered the lottery to sign up for the New York marathon. The thought of winter training intimidates me though. The gear I need to buy looks like it's for Arctic exploring!

The weather has been insanely beautiful here. It's like an extended fall. So Miss D. has been getting a lot of outdoor exercise, more than she usually gets this time of year. Here are some pics I took at Ashbridges Bay Park here in Toronto. Just out of camera range there are swans and ducks. I try to keep her focused on the stick so she doesn't swim after them. They are under the cut, if you're interested.

Patrick Swayze dies at 57

This is sad news:(

Patrick Swayze, ‘Dirty Dancing’ Star, Dies at 57

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Patrick Swayze has died after a nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Swayze's publicist Annett Wolf says the 57-year-old "Dirty Dancing" actor died Monday with family at his side. He came forward about his illness last spring, but continued working as he underwent treatments.

It was 1987 when Swayze became a star with his performance in "Dirty Dancing," a coming-of-age story set in a Catskills resort. The 1990 film "Ghost" cemented his status as a screen favorite.

Swayze played a murdered man trying to communicate with his fiancee through a spirit played by Whoopi Goldberg.

He kept on working even after it was disclosed in March 2008 that he had a particularly deadly form of cancer. He starred in "The Beast," an A&E drama series, and said he and his wife were working on a memoir.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan updates - JDM adopts a dog? and Watchmen B-side picspam

As you've probably heard, Warner Bros. has asked that all pictures and video from the set of The Losers be removed. So I've taken everything down. I'm going to abide by the spirit of that too and not post any updates re. filming. It would be great to see this movie upspoiled. I remember when I saw Watchmen the first time a lot of it seemed familiar, because I'd seen so many clips.

A few other updates:

Jeffrey Dean Morgan adopts a dog
? I don't know if this is true, but the that's what the Puerto Rican press says. And really, why would they lie??

Another B-side picspam
!

And a shout out to 42 Days of Metallicar! Your favourite "4th WInchester" has their own pre-season love fest courtesy of Alias Chick.

And I don't know if I mentioned it here, but I completed my first 15K race!  It was wonderful. It was run at night through a wildlife preserve that's a few blocks from my house. And now I'm sore and today is just brunch, a manicure, pedicure, then the South Asian Food Festival in Little India!

Later guys! I have been keeping up with everyone's journals (yeah on the skydive!) and glad everyone is doing well.
